Do you have a passion for helping people achieve greater independence and live life on their own terms?

We are looking for a caring and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Elizabeth House, Enham Trust and provide high-quality, person-centred support to our residents. This is a rewarding role where you will build meaningful relationships, encourage confidence, and help people achieve their goals, both big and small.

Working closely with our residents, colleagues, and wider professional teams, you will help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness.

About the role:

As a Support Worker, you will support residents with their everyday lives, helping them develop independence, make choices, and take part in activities that are important to them.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing personalised support with personal care, wellbeing, and daily living activities while promoting dignity, privacy, and independence.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with residents, understanding their individual needs, preferences, and aspirations.
  • Supporting residents to develop life skills, including cooking, shopping, meal planning, budgeting, and household tasks.
  • Encouraging residents to access community activities, education, leisure opportunities, and social experiences.
  • Acting as a Key Worker for allocated residents, supporting them to work towards their personal goals and independence.
  • Supporting residents with mobility needs and physical disabilities, including the safe use of equipment and care aids where required.
  • Working with families, colleagues, health professionals, and external agencies to ensure residents receive consistent and effective support.
  • Following individual support plans, risk assessments, and positive behaviour support strategies to promote wellbeing and safety.
  • Keeping accurate records and sharing important updates to ensure continuity of care.

Working Patterns:

Our shifts operate between 7:00am and 9:30pm, Monday to Sunday, across five days of the week. Shifts are structured as follows:

  • Morning shift: 7:00am – 2:30pm
  • Afternoon shift: 2:00pm – 9:30pm

About you:

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient, and genuinely enjoys helping others. You don’t need to have all the answers – what matters most is your attitude, values, and commitment to making a difference.

You will be someone who:

  • Treats people with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  • Encourages independence and supports people to make their own choices.
  • Has excellent communication skills and enjoys building relationships.
  • Works well as part of a team and is committed to providing high standards of care.
  • Is willing to learn, develop, and complete training to support residents’ individual needs.

Previous experience in care or support work is welcomed, but we also encourage applications from people who are passionate about making a difference and want to begin or develop a career in social care.

Why join us?

By joining our team, you’ll become part of an organisation that puts people first. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference every day while developing your skills through ongoing training, support, and career development opportunities.

Every person we support has their own story, goals, and ambitions and your role will be to help them achieve them.

You will need:

  • Good communication skills
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • To be compassionate and patient
  • Ideally some experience in a caring industry, for example hospitality or schools
  • To pass our DBS check or be on the DBS update service

Even better if you have previous experience of a care environment, having a knowledge of disabilities, issues relating to physical access and adaption will be advantageous in addition to having a commitment to and understanding of equal opportunities.
